About Sophia
Sophia Katsaiti is a writer and musician. Raised across continents in a noisy and borderless home, she was born to a Sri Lankan and East African mother and a Greek father.
A nomad at heart, Sophia has walked through convent walls, city streets, Buddhist temples, firelit music circles, gatherings of Sufi mystics and countless border crossings in search of shared humanity.
She is widely known for her visual poems, which combine words and imagery to explore the depth, contradiction and vulnerability of the human experience, while also articulating resistance to systems that constrain dignity, memory and freedom. These works hold tenderness and defiance together, offering language that speaks both inwardly and socially. Shared widely online, they have reached millions and resonate across cultural and political boundaries.
Sophia’s work encourages a more deliberate relationship with music and art, one rooted in sustained listening rather than fast consumption. Whether encountered through live performance, recorded music or writing, her work offers depth, warmth and a sense of collective empowerment.
She is the author of Journal of the Soul and has recently released her album Karavi.
